How to Recover Lost-deleted Emails in Yahoo Conveniently

For those who are new to the platform or those who are facing the situation for the first time, looking for lost/deleted emails in Yahoo! Mail can be quite frustrating, especially when they need them urgently. To help such users recover emails in their Yahoo! Mail account, we have provided below complete step-by-step instructions. Follow the instructions correctly to retrieve emails in your account quickly.

Steps to Recover Lost/Deleted Emails in Yahoo! Mail:

1.) Check your Trash Folder

When you delete an email in your Yahoo Mail account, it gets transferred to the Trash folder for a certain duration before it is completely removed from your account. Make sure to check the “Trash Folder” of your Yahoo! Mail account.

  • Sign in to your Yahoo! Mail account.
  • On the left-hand side panel, click on the “Trash” option.
  • Now, look for the deleted email.

2.) Basic Search Option

Another way to look for lost or deleted emails is by using the Basic Search option on your Yahoo! Mail account. To locate email using basic search option:

  • Sign in to your Yahoo! Mail account.
  • On your Yahoo! Mail account’s page, you will find the “search bar” on the top section of your account.
  • Enter a keyword related to the email you are looking for in the “search bar” and click on the “Search Mail” button.
  • You will get a list of emails related to the keyword entered by you.

3.) Advanced Search Option

Apart from Basic Search option, Yahoo! Mail also offers an “Advanced Search” option that lets a user search for lost/deleted on multiple bases such as Folder wise, Date wise, Attachment wise, etc. To use the “Advanced Search” option

  • Sign in to your Yahoo! Mail account.
  • Click on the “Drop-Down” icon located just next to the “Search Bar” icon (lens icon) located on the top of your Yahoo! Mail account.
  • Scroll down to find the “Advanced search” option.
  • Once clicked on it, enter as much information as you can in the prompted fields to find the email(s).

4.) Submit a Restore Request

In case you are unable to find the email using search options, or if you have permanently deleted the email(s) from your Yahoo! Mail account (“Trash folder” as well), you can send a “Restore Request” to the Yahoo! Mail subject to conditions mentioned below.

  • Only those emails will be recovered that would have gone missing in the last seven days.
  • Once submitted, you won’t be able to cancel the “Restore Request”.
  • Restoration requests are not 100% reliable.
  • Emails that would be recovered with “Restore Request” will be added back to the same folder where they were in the time frame you chose to restore to.
  • If you can’t locate emails after the restoration process gets completed, make sure to check the “Trash folder”.

These are some of the ways you can recover lost or deleted emails in your Yahoo! Mail account. If you need additional support regarding email recovery or any other issues in your Yahoo Mail account, feel free to reach Yahoo! Mail customer support crew anytime.

  • Emails in my Yahoo inbox have disappeared going back many years. I sent two messages to Yahoo support but only received auto replies. Obviously I’d like to recover those very important financial health and family related emails.

    • Did you get your emails back. Mine disappeared on Dec 19 2017 and I’ve done everything in my power to get them back but Verizon/Yahoo are no help at all. Many hours wasted during the holidays. So stressed out.

  • I had the same thing happen to me where emails and folders from previous years disappeared. I have not been able to find any answers. However, I recall many years ago that Yahoo had created a strange way to link accounts. I had created a Yahoo account when Geocities disappeared. For some reason, when the Yahoo account was created xxxxxx.geo[at]yahoo.com, I linked an account I created through my ISP (yyyyyyy[dot]net) Even though I only used my yyyyyyy[dot]net account for email, all of the emails were managed in my xxxxxx.geo[at]yahoo.com account. It appears sometime around the start 2018, Yahoo unlinked my yahoo.com email account from my ISP account. Logging in to my ISP account as I have done for years only showed 2018 emails. Everything else vanished! I then logged into my yahoo.com account. All of my pre-2018 emails and folders were all there without any “restoration” needed. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is any way to bulk transfer emails in my yahoo.com account to my ISP account.

  • Friends, Any luck on this issue. I have not used my yahoo id for some time and now i lost all my emails.

  • My e-mails just keep disappearing. I sent a request yesterday, but today there are still even more missing from my account that were on there yesterday! Very aggravating and I’m not happy! I did not delete any of them myself!

  • ALL my email folders are EMPTY. Even the ones I accessed this AM. WHAT IS GOING ON ???????????????

  • Several weeks ago all of my emails from years past just disappeared. There were many business and personal emails that I unfortunately had not transferred to a “folder”. I contacted Att and have had no success in receiving any help. Emails accumulated and a few days ago the same thing happened again. So very frustrating!
