Why Is My HP Printer Not Printing Black Ink?

Though the HP printer is considered as the most trusted brand in the printing industry, the users may encounter some problems while printing. One of the most common problems of HP printers, especially the inkjets is not to print the black ink. The users may think that the black ink refill is empty or dried out and top up the black cartridge. But after refilling the new ink cartridge, the problem persists. Then there may be some other reasons for the HP printer not printing black ink.

Do not use duplicate products: The first and most important reason of it is not to use the genuine HP ink supplies. It is the widespread problem for those who use duplicate cartridge. It is always recommended to check the authenticity of the product before purchase.

Rest the Printer for a While: The problem of HP printer not printing black ink may arise after you install a new cartridge. Automatic servicing is the way to resolve the issue. After servicing, rest the printer for a couple of hours to improve the print quality.

Check the Plastic Protective Tape: You must check that the plastic protective tape on the black cartridge is off. Many users forget or overlook to do so and can’t print the black color.

Calibrate the Printer: The printer needs to calibrate every time after the installation of the cartridge. Many users ignore this step and face the problem.

Clean the Black Ink Cartridge: Remove the black ink cartridge from the printer and clean it with a cotton swab. The dart may prevent the black ink to print. You can also clean the printer head.

Connection Problem: There may be some wiring connection for which the command cannot be executed.

Replace the Cartridge: If the cartridge of the black ink is defective, then you have to replace it with a new and fresh one.

Troubleshooting: If your printer is LaserJet, then go to the Menu and click on ‘Diagnostics’. Now try to print the PQ Troubleshooting Pages. If there is no black ink in the printout, then go to the ‘Disable the Cartridge’. Now switch the place of black and magenta cartridge and print the page again. If the black ink does not print again, then the problem is in the toner cartridge.

Service: If you tried all the above-stated steps and still your HP printer is not printing black ink, then go to the service center of the HP and submit it there to repair. And if your product is under warranty then replace it with a new HP printer.
